History: Signed in 1935.  In 1940, the highway was widened from State Road to Philadelphia.  In 1949, widening occurred from Woodland Avenue to State Road and in 1951 from West Sproul Road to State Road.

In 1954, the northern terminus was moved to Hunting Park Avenue at Ridge Avenue.  A median was installed from West Sproul Road to State road in 1958.
